When you buy a piece of art that you love…that painting that speaks to your heart, that sculpture that begs you to become part of your life, it has many beneficial effects. The feeling of joy is priceless…the beauty of the work elevates us, lifts us out of the mundane, takes us away from the stresses and strains of our lives, even if only for a moment. When you live with art you love, those gifts are available to you and those you love every time you pause to enjoy the artwork.
In general, the value of an artist’s work only increases over time so it’s a win win from a financial perspective. Your support of the artist allows him or her to contribute to their own economy, and to their continued art practice which in turn positively impacts the value of your investment.
And bonus? Art you love passes the Marie Kondo test of “does it bring you joy”!
A piece of art I adore is my receiving bowl from the amazing Ginger Meek Allen. It reminds me to let go of trying to control outcomes in my life, and to open myself to receiving all the goodness the universe has to offer.
Stay tuned, in upcoming posts, I’ll be sharing more of the art that has found it’s way in to my heart and my home!
