The temperatures here in Vancouver soared way above normal this past week and despite my best intentions to have a quiet weekend to ground and center myself, the stack of prepped cloth and my containers of dye solutions were irresistable. I mixed up some thickening print paste on Friday night so as to be ready to go on Saturday morning. With the sun umbrella up, my denim dyeing apron on and all my supplies and tools laid out, I let my hand make whatever marks came to mind.
My one goal was to create some more fairly textured cloth using one of my dye colours called Shitake Mushroom. It’s a little hard to describe in any sort of way that sounds appealing but it’s one of the softer hues that has been calling to me over the last several weeks. I’m pretty pleased with this textured but soft hued piece of cloth I was able to create. Looking forward to using it in an upcoming painting!
