I create art to touch your soul, to bring peace to your day, to provide a place for your eyes and your brain to rest amidst the hectic modern world, a place for soothing and calming in the busyness of your days.

Cloth is such an integral part of all of our lives...when we enter this world we are wrapped in a soft cocoon of it....throughout our lives we live with it on our bodies, in our homes, in our places of work....and finally when we leave this earth, we wear our final garments of cloth. I love the interplay of the cloth with colour and texture and all the ways it can take shape.

Colour, texture, line, shape. They fascinate me. They lure me to the studio daily, the endless possibilities of creation laid out on my work table waiting for me to conjure the raw materials into a composition which is food for the soul.

Mardell is an internationally exhibited studio artist working out of Studio Southwynde in Burnaby, Canada where she can be found surrounded by luscious textiles, walls of thread, and pots of dye.

She began exhibiting her art in 2014 with show venues at various locations in France, Italy, the U.S. and Canada. To date, paintings have found their way to homes in the U.S., Australia and Canada.

Mardell gives back to her community by contributing a percentage of all sales to the Food Bank in Vancouver, Canada.
